Dodge Charger Key Fob Battery Remote Replacement (2006 – 2021)

The very first Dodge Charger was a show car back in 1964. Since then, the nameplate has been used on full-size sedans, muscle cars, luxury coupes, and subcompact hatchbacks. The current version of the Dodge Charger is the powerful four-door sedan we all know and love.

In this video I will show you how to change the internal battery in this Dodge Charger key Fob. This key Fob here was used on Chargers since 2011 all the way up to present day and it just takes one of these cross are 2032 batteries to run. It’s really easy to change the battery yourself at home. You can just follow along and it just takes a couple of minutes. If you want to get one of these online, I will leave a link down in the description to pick one up on Amazon for just a couple of bucks.

First step, turn this thing over and find the switch on the back. Hold that down and pull out your internal key. Now you can see right here the keyhole. And then above that, a little indentation for opening this thing up. Going to take a flathead screwdriver, put it in there, hold firmly and twist.

Just turning, not too much pressure. You will start to open up the key Fob. And then what I like to do is put the tool in and just work my way down. Twisting, twisting until it comes apart very easily. Okay, now all we need to do is take our flathead screwdriver, kind of get under the battery coming in from the side.

You just pry it up, it will pop right out and there it is. CR 2032 can take your new one and make sure this positive side goes face down and goes right back into place like that. You need to put that down for a second. You need to make sure that you slide the battery in towards this metal component first getting that side down and then just click the other side into place until it sits there without moving. And now we just click these two pieces back together, make sure the seam is nice and aligned and you can just put your key back in and you are all set and ready to go.

In this video, I will show you how to change the internal battery in this Dodge Charger key Fob. This key Fob was used on charger back in 2008 up to 2010, and it takes just one of the CR 2032 battery. You can get these online for just a couple of bucks. I will put a link down in the description if you want to pick one of those up and then just follow along super easy. The first thing we want to do is come down to this area where the keyhole is and you can see if you look closely, there's this indentation, and then there's the seam.

We want to come in on the corner of that with something like a flathead screwdriver. And if you just come in and put a little bit of pressure, you can see that it will slide in just like that once you're in there. Once you get in, you can just turn the key just enough to start to pop this thing open. And then what I like to do is just go into that opening and continue turning until you kind of feel the two parts click part. What we have here, you might open it.

It's going to look more like that. This part you can just set aside. Now here we have the rubber and the circuit board. Carefully take it apart, set that to the side. And now we just get under the battery with our flathead screwdriver.

Takes very little effort, very little force to lift that out of there. Now we have our CR 2032. Take a new one and make sure this positive side goes face down just like that and slide it first towards this metal component. Make sure that side is down in place, and then you can just click the other side down. Okay, now we take this and line that up, set it on top.

So you're just going to feel that it's secure. It's not going anywhere. And then we're going to put this on top, click everything back together and that's it. You change your battery, you are all set and ready to go. If you found this video helpful, feel free to leave us a like or a comment.

You can change the battery yourself at home. It's really easy. Just pick one of these up if you want to get one online.

I will leave a link in the description to get one on Amazon and there's a couple of bucks and then all you need is a flathead screwdriver. First thing we're going to do is locate the little slot on the seam between the two halves of the key Fob right there. Take something like a flathead screwdriver, insert it in and just gently twist, twist until you hear a little click. And you can see now that there's a little bit of an opening here, I'm going to put my flathead screwdriver and continue to turn gently until I can pull it apart with my fingers. Go ahead and set this to the side.

Carefully remove this rubber component. Under there is a circuit board. We're going to want to be careful with that. Set that to the side. And now we have our battery right there, just going to come from the side and lift the battery up from underneath it.

And there we go. CR 2032. Make sure your new battery goes face down, positive side down, and then you can just click it into place like that. Go ahead and set this back on until you feel that it's secure. Lastly, we're just going to click the face of the key Fob back on and once that's done, you're all set.
