How to Change the Battery in a Ford C-Max Slim Smart Key Fob
Total Time: 2 minutes
1. Remove internal key from fob
Turn your key fob to the back. Pull the notch and remove your internal key.
2. Use screwdriver/key to open fob cover
Insert a flathead screwdriver or the key you just removed into the keyhole and twist. The covers of the key fob will pop and you separate it.
3. Remove battery cover, lift out battery
Set aside the cover housing the circuit board and focus on the one with the battery. Use the same flathead screwdriver to lift out the old battery.
4. Insert new CR2032 battery positive side down
Next, insert the new battery with the positive side down and the negative side up.
5. Reassemble Ford key fob parts
The last thing is to fix together the Ford key fob parts in reverse order. Put the internal key back and you’re done!
Lock and unlock your vehicle to confirm that you replaced it well.

How to Replace the Ford C-Max Rounded Key Fob Battery (2013 – 2019)
The rounded Ford key fob battery is actually quite easy to change or replace once you know where the notch in the key can be found to separate the two pieces.
This guide will teach you about your Cmax key fob battery replacement DIY.

Step 1
Locate the notch at the right corner on the bottom of the remote key fob. This is where you insert your flat head screwdriver to separate the device. When the screwdriver is in, hold the key fob loosely and twist the tool. The cover will pop out.
Step 2
Now, remove the small back covering the battery and set it aside. To get the old battery out, simply turn the cover over and the battery will fall right out. It’s time to change battery.
Step 3
Insert the new battery. Position it so that the positive side faces down and the negative is up.
Step 4
Click the remote key fob covers back together and you’re done. You have a new key fob!
