How to Replace the Ford Focus 2011 – 2019 Remote Key Fob Battery

This non-smart key remote for the Ford Focus requires a CR2032 battery to replace. Scroll down to watch my video or keep reading for a detailed guide on how to change it:

You will need (all of these items are available on Amazon):

• a flathead screwdriver or another key

• a CR 2032 battery

Step 1:

Check the top of the key for a notch. The notch is along the indentation line that separates the key in halves. Insert a flathead screwdriver or key into the notch at the upper right and twist. Gradually work your way down to the middle of the key, where the key ring attaches, till you get enough leverage to pop the key open in two halves.

Step 2:

After opening up the key, remove the rubber covering in the key and you’d have access to the old battery.

Step 3:

Flip the fob key over and the old battery will pop right out. Now install the new one with the positive side facing you.

Step 4:

Place the rubber cover back in position and place the two halves back together.
