How to Replace the Ford Fusion 2017, 2018, 2019 Smart Key Fob Battery

The modern large smart fob for the Fusion requires a CR2450 battery to operate its features. The larger CR2450 coin battery is a bit more expensive than smaller CR batteries, but this one is simple to change. Keep reading or scroll down for a video tutorial on how to change the battery in this ford fusion’s key fob model.
You will need:
- a flathead screwdriver
- a CR2450 battery

How to replace the battery in the smart key fob for a 2017, 2018, 2019 Ford Fusion
Total Time: 2 minutes
1. Press and pull valet key

Press down the plastic button below the valet key and pull out the valet key.
2. Flip key, remove battery cover

Now flip the key over. Insert a flathead screwdriver or the valet key into the slot around the valet key hole. Pry into it carefully and pop out the battery cover.
3. Remove cover, pry out battery

Removing the cover will give you access to the old battery. Insert a small flathead screwdriver into the hole above the battery to get underneath the battery and pop out the old battery.
4. Insert new CR2450 battery with positive side up

Insert and reset the new battery with the positive side facing you. The positive side is the part with texts.
5. Reattach the battery cover securely

Now replace the battery cover. When replacing the cover, ensure that you set the backing in place with the little notch at the lower part of the key fob. Then the other part of the cover will slide into place.
6. Put back valet key

Finally, replace the valet key, and you’re good to go!

How to Replace the Ford Fusion 2013 – 2017 Flip Key Fob Battery

The flip key fob is a pretty easy fob battery to change. Scroll down for a video or keep reading to see the Ford Fusion key fob battery replacement guide.
You’ll need:

a flathead screwdriver or dull knife

a new CR2032 3v battery.
Step 1:
Pop out the valet key by pressing the button. Check for the indentation line on the side where you popped out the key.
Step 2:
Put a small flathead screwdriver into the slot along the indentation line and pry till the battery cover comes off to reveal the old battery.
Step 3:
Use a flathead screwdriver or a dull knife to pop out the old battery. Install the new one with the positive side (the part with texts) facing you.
Step 4:
Replace the battery cover and push slightly to ensure a snug fit.

How to Replace the Ford Fusion 2006 – 2012 Remote Key Fob Battery

This integrated key and fob take a simple CR2032 coin 3v battery to replace. The key to changing this fob battery is the notch in this fob where you can wedge another key or screwdriver to pry apart the two pieces. Step 1:
Use a flathead screwdriver or another key to get into the notch at the right top edge of the key. Get in there and twist till the fob key comes apart in halves.
Step 2:
Opening up the key will give you access to the old battery. Gently tap the dead battery, flip the key over and the old battery will fall out.
Step 3:
Install the new battery with the positive side(the part with letterings) towards you.
Step 4:
Return the back cover. Ensure that the rubber piece on the back cover sits properly on the battery hole. After the battery cover sits properly, snap the fob key back into place.
Test your car remote, you can be sure that it’d now work as seamlessly as ever.
