Ford Taurus Key Fob Battery Remote Replacement 1993 – 2019

The Taurus is one of Ford’s older sedans still being produced, and as such has seen most of the Ford fob remote’s used in it’s production over the years. They have stuck to the slim smart key vs the bulkier newer smart fob. This means that all Taurus key fobs take the small CR 2032 battery. That makes replacing any Taurus remote battery easy!

All right, so in this video, I'm going to show you how to replace the Fob battery in a Ford Taurus. This key Fob was used from 2013 to present here. So if your Fob looks like this, this is how you change the battery if it's gotten low. So go ahead and flip this over. And you see there's a little latch on the back here.

If you pull this down, this releases this internal valet key. So pop out the internal valet key. And our goal here is we need to separate this base or this kind of backing from the main part of the Fob. You can see it's kind of a line that goes all the way around. The easiest way to do that, actually I found, is just take this, the internal valet key, and you can actually kind of put it back in a spot and kind of get some leverage underneath where it goes back in.

And you can start to get some separation between the main part of the Fob and the backing. And once you have a little bit of a gap, you take, like, a small flathead screwdriver if you have one, and try to get into the side here in between. And once you have a little bit of a gap, actually just hold the main part and pull off this back, and that will pop off. It could take a little bit of jiggling, but you won't break it if you pull it out, just like I did there. So don't worry about the circuit boards.

We don't need to change anything there. But the battery is right here. So just make sure this metal part right here stays in place. You don't want that popping out, but you do want to pop out the battery here. And you can see it's a CR 2032 coin battery.

Replace 3 volt. So once you have a new one of these, just make sure the positive side, positive side has the lettering. Make sure that that is faced down there, pops back in sets there correctly. Again, the negative side, with no lettering should be facing you now. And then go ahead and just line this back up on the Fob itself and press that back in.

Everything kind of snaps back into place. And then go ahead and put the valet key back in. And that's it. You change the battery on the Ford Taurus key Fob. And again, the battery that you'll need is a CR 2032.

All right. Thanks.

All right. So in this video, I'm going to show you how to change the key Fob for a Ford Taurus. And this one was used for quite a while. So from 2008 to present, if you've got a Ford Taurus key Fob like this and the batteries died, here's how you change it. So we got to separate this into two pieces.

And the first thing you want to do is find this notch in the upper right. Right up here. You can see there's a little bit of a notch. We need to get in there to get some leverage to pull these two pieces apart. So you use a flathead screwdriver or even just another key, get in there and then just push and twist and start to get some separation between these two pieces.

And if you go towards the middle, where there's a hole like a keyring, it's a good spot to get in there and twist. If you get those two spots, you should be able to pop this apart and get access to the internal CR 2032 battery. And that'll just kind of fall out. And once you put this back in. When you grab a new one.

I'll link to it at the bottom but this battery has positive side, negative sides. Make sure the positive side with the lettering facing towards you, place that back in. And then there's a rubber piece here that has kind of an outline for the battery to make sure

Sure that that is lined up. When you push this back on, snap the part. Back together. And that's it. That's how you change the key Fob battery for Ford Taurus.

If you need to replace that again the battery that you'll need is a CR 2032 3 volts coin battery for Ford Taurus.
