Replacing this key fob is simple and takes less time to complete. Scroll down to see a full video tutorial or keep reading for a step-by-step guide. The tools you will need:

1. Access keyring slot at bottom

Turn to the bottom of the key fob to find the little slot (an opening) next to the keyring mount.

2. Use screwdriver to open key fob and remove carefully

Insert your small flathead screwdriver into this opening, and twist. You will hear a pop and feel the back of the device start to come off. Work your way down so the key fob can separate into two halves completely (avoid a twisting action). Remove this piece with your fingers and set it aside. If the two halves do not separate easily, apply a gentle force by pressing down on the screwdriver.

3. Find arrow near battery, use screwdriver to remove

Now, looking at the battery housing, find the small arrow pointing towards an opening. Take a precision flathead screwdriver and insert it into this opening and pry the battery out.

4. Insert new battery positive side up

Take a new CR2450 battery and slide it into the housing, with the positive side facing up. Note that, the device won’t work if the negative side is facing down.

5. Click parts back, press key and done!

The last thing—just click the back (two plastic parts ) of the key fob back on. Ensure everything is in the right place. To complete the process, press any key on your keypad or lock and unlock your car. If that went perfectly, then that’s it! Your key fob is working again and ready to go!
