1. Press button, pull emergency key gently

Turn your key fob over to the back. Locate the button, hold it down, and gently pull the mechanical key (also known as the emergency key).

2. Open key fob with screwdriver

There is a little slot opposite the keyhole. Get your flathead screwdriver inside this indentation and turn it like a key until the key fob starts to open up. Keep turning gently to completely separate the two sides of the key fob.

Now set aside the circuit board in the key fob and hold on to the cover with the battery.

The next thing is to get the dead battery out. Insert the corner of your flathead screwdriver inside to pry out the old battery.

5. Insert new CR2032 battery, positive down

6. Reassemble, insert key

Lastly, return the circuit board, click the back covers together, and put the mechanical key in the keyhole.

Press the button on the key fob back cover to remove the mechanical key.

The next thing is to remove the lower part of the key fob plastic. To do that, hold on to the upper section firmly and push down the lower part until it opens up. Alternatively, you can use your flathead screwdriver. Insert it into the side of the key fob and twist gently to separate it.

Step 3

Put your screwdriver in the space between the dead battery and the plastic at the bottom. The battery will pop right out.

Step 4

Take your brand new battery and install it with the positive side facing up.

Lastly, reassemble the key fob parts, return the emergency key, and you’re good to go!

Step 1

Hold the silver button down and gently pull out the internal key.

Step 2

Locate the indentation beside the keyhole and insert your flat-head screwdriver here. Hold the device and twist the screwdriver while you work your way down the sides of the key fob. This will separate the key fob cover.

Step 3

Set aside the internal component containing the circuit board. Be careful not to damage anything or lose the buttons on the other key fob cover.

Step 4

Use the same flat-head screwdriver to remove the old battery. Insert it from the side, lift it up and the battery will pop out.

Step 5
