What you will need:
• 1x CR2025 battery
• Flat-head screwdriver

Replacing your battery for your smart key is easy. First, remove your internal key. Inside of the area that the key came from are two small seams, one on each side. Insert the head a flat-head screwdriver into each slot and twist to partially separate the two halves of the key fob. Next, use the same technique on the now separated sides of the key fob until the two halves separate fully.

Now that you’re inside, remove the plastic disc covering the battery with your fingers. Here is your CR2025 battery. Remove the old battery, and slide the new one in face-up. The rest is simple, just replace the plastic disc, click the two pieces of the key back together, and return your key to its compartment. That’s it, your Mazda 3 smart key should now be charged and ready to go.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to change the battery on a key fob from a Mazda 3. There are two of these that look exactly the same, except one is a four button like I have here that has the hatch open button and an another that just has three. But they both use the CR 2025 and were used on Mazda 3 from 2014 to 2018. So it's going to be the same exact procedure to get in there and change your battery. So to start, we're going to turn it over, find the little latch on the back and push that down to remove your valet key.

And you can see right here, a little indentation on either side, right there. We can take a regular flathead screwdriver and let it find its way in there. Give it a little twist. And now we've made an opening on this side to loosen it going to do the same on the other side. Put it in gently.

Twist. Got it open on both sides. And now just put it in that opening twist, wiggle it down, twist and it just pops right off. Now we can remove this protector piece of plastic here to see our CR 2025 battery. Go ahead, find a replacement.

Put that in. Secure this piece of plastic right on top. And it's very easy to just click this back into place.

Done. Put your valet key back in and you're good to go. New battery in your Mazda 3 key fob.

To access the battery, we first need to separate the two halves of the flip key fob. Begin by looking at the left side of the device where the key is housed. Just inside this compartment, on the top, is a seam between the two halves of plastic. Use your screwdriver to push upwards on the outer piece of plastic. Push until you can fit a flat-head screwdriver into the seam on the bottom of the key (where the two holes for the keyring are). Twist the screwdriver until the face of the key fob comes loose.

Inside, there is a square compartment that contains the battery. Take your precision screwdriver (3.0mm/PH0 or smaller) or another small tool and place it into the bottom-right corner of the compartment (there is a small triangle pointing to this corner.) Pushing down with the tool, simply pry the battery out with a rocking motion.

Position your new CR1620 battery face down into the compartment and press down until it clicks into place. Finally, replace the other half of the key fob, making sure it connects properly. That’s it! You replaced your Mazda 3 battery and you’re good to go.

Hello everyone. Today I'm going to show you how to change the internal battery in a Mazda 3 key Fob. This Fob was used on Mazda 3's between 2010 and 2013. And inside we're going to find a 1620 battery that we will be changing. So follow along step by step and you'll get a brand new battery in here.

First thing you want to do is open this key to get access to this little slot. And if you can see the light reflecting off that separation of the plastic, that's where we want to push to bring this top piece of plastic off. And if yours is a little bit tight and you can't push it off with your finger like I can go ahead and get a flat head screwdriver. Hold on to this section of the plastic that will not be moving. And go ahead inside that little compartment, find that edge and push just enough to make a separation in the bottom.

Now use your flathead to wiggle in and twist just like that.

Yeah, that's all it takes. And now we've got these two parts separated. Be careful with the little circuit board in here. Make sure your buttons are in place. Keep that secure and set that aside for now.

Here is our 1620 battery. This is in too deep for you to remove it with your fingers. So you're going to need to use a tool. Going to use a precision screwdriver just comes from a little set that you can get online. I think it's easiest to use one of these if you needed to.

Maybe you could use a pen or something like that. But the method is going to be locating this little arrow here with the key facing down. We go to the bottom right corner of where the key is. And if you look closely, you can see there is a little gap between the plastic and the battery. Going to insert some kind of a thin tool into there almost to the bottom and just pulling back, prying and rocking.

You will be able to pop the battery out. Just show you that one more time.

So bottom right corner, push it into the bottom and pull back with a little bit of force trying to catch the edge of that battery. Here it is, 1620 battery. Get a new one. Make sure the side with the info here the face of the battery goes down. And when putting your new battery in, you want to just slide it up first into this area with the metal and push down on the bottom.

Okay, so that's just sliding it straight up, face down. And once this part is in place, they'll click and you're good to go. You're done. Make sure again, the circuit board is in place. Line everything up, make sure it's secure and you're all set.

That's all it takes to change the battery in a Mazda Three key Fob. Thank you for watching.

Take your flat-head screwdriver and insert it into the indentation on the bottom of the key fob (where the keyring is). Twist the screwdriver to pry the two halves of the key fob apart.

Push down with light pressure on the top of the battery (the side with the red dot above) with your screwdriver or fingernail until the battery pops out. Take your replacement CR2025 battery—face up—and slide it up towards the red dot before pushing the bottom into place. Click the two halves of the key fob case back together.

That’s all it takes, you’re done. The device should now function properly.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to change the battery on this key Fob. Used for a Mazda 3, this Fob was used specifically from 2004 to 2008. And inside here, you're going to find the CR 2025 battery. Now let's get this thing open and change it up on the top. You can see that little indentation.

That's how I'm going to open it with this flat head screwdriver. If you just push it in and rotate it a couple of times, it should just open up like that. And now you have access to the inside. Now, this is where it gets a little bit tricky. I'm going to use a precision screwdriver and you can get a pack of these on Amazon.

Theyre really cheap. You're going to need this because to safely remove this battery, you need to access these holes up on the top. See the red dot up on the top here? There are these two areas that we're going to use to release this battery. If you want to put your precision screwdriver in and kind of wiggle it and pry the top of the battery out, you can see it's sticking out.

Now just with a little pressure on the bottom, it just comes out like that. And you can get your new 2025, put it in down towards the side with the red dot first. And just by applying some pressure down while you pull it forward up, applying pressure in while you pull it down, it just goes right back into place like that. So let me show you that again, these holes you put your tool in, pry that out, pop it from the bottom, and you slide it down and press. Now it's in new battery.

Simply click the back on again, be careful with it. Make sure it's on securely. And there you go. Brand new battery in your key Fob for your Mazda 3.
