How to Change the Battery in a Mazda 5 Flip 3-Button Key Fob
Total Time: 4 minutes
1. Press aux button for metal key
Begin by pressing the auxiliary key button on the face of your key fob to flip out the metal auxiliary key.
2. Locate seam or light reflection then Insert screwdriver
Next, locate the seam on the top of the compartment where the key was housed. If you don’t find that easily, can you spot the light reflecting from the keyhole? That’s where you insert your flathead screwdriver in the next step.
3. Hold top of fob, push seam with screwdriver to open
Hold the top of the fob (where the metal button is) and use the flathead screwdriver to push up against the seam to create a larger opening.

Next, hold the device with the extended key facing down and insert your precision screwdriver (or another thin tool) into the bottom-right corner of the compartment that houses the battery (there is a small black arrow pointing towards it). Use a prying and rocking motion to pull the battery up until it pops out.
6. Check rubber ring before replacing new CR1620 battery
Take your replacement CR1620 new battery and put it in with the positive side face down into the compartment. Position the top side of the battery first, getting that into place before pushing on the bottom of the battery to click it into place. Ensure the rubber ring is intact before you replace the battery.
7. Reassemble key fob, confirm no missing parts, done!
Finally, put the key fob parts back together. Return the battery cover or battery cap, the other key fob case, as well as the auxiliary key. Be sure to confirm that nothing is missing.
