What you will need:

• 1x CR2450 battery

• Flat-head screwdriver

How to change the battery in the “Rectangular” key fob of a Ram 1500

Total Time: 4 minutes

1. Press silver button to release key

Start by pressing the silver button on the side of the key fob to release the internal key.

2. Insert screwdriver, pry to open covers

Next, look at the bottom of the device, there are two openings next to the keyhole, along the seam of the back piece of plastic. Take a precision screwdriver and insert it into an opening. Do this in a prying motion to pop open and separate both back covers. A larger screwdriver also works here.

3. Remove battery by pulling down

From here, pull down the battery with your fingers to remove it.

4. Insert CR2450 battery, click back on

Take a new CR2450 battery and slide it into place, with the positive side facing up. All that’s left to do now is click the back of the device back on. Remember to return the internal key.

How to Replace the Ram 1500 “Teardrop” Key Fob Battery (2010-2019)

What you will need:

• 1x CR2032 battery

• Flat-head screwdriver

Step 1

First, look to the bottom of the device where the keyring is attached. You should see the seam between the two halves of the key fob.

Step 2

Take your flathead screwdriver and carefully insert it into the seam, wiggling as you push. Once the tool is inside, twist until the two halves of the device pop open. Set the back cover aside.

Step 3

Now, carefully remove the rubber piece/buttons. Next, use your fingers or screwdriver to gently lift the battery out of its housing.

Step 4

Take a new CR2032 battery and click it into place with the positive side facing down.

Step 5

Finally, set the rubber buttons back on top and click the front piece of plastic back into place.
