In this quick tutorial, I will show you how you can change the battery in your Subaru BRZ key Fob at home. This device was used on BRZ between 2013 and 2020. And it takes one of these CR 1620 batteries to run really easy to open this thing up. First step is to look up here this little keyring. And on this top corner, you can see there is a little indentation in the plastic right there.

We're going to take a flathead screwdriver, insert it in twist. You can see we started to open up this device here and I'm just going to work my way down in that little opening, twisting until the back comes off easily. From here, you can just dump out this little component that has the buttons and inside is actually the battery. And now we're going to work on these little flaps of plastic that are holding the two halves of this component together. What we're going to do is just hold on the sides and one by one target these little areas and just kind of push the corner of your flathead screwdriver in and see from the bottom.

I'm just kind of working it in. It's not going to feel like much at first, but you just kind of release this little latch. And then when we start to do the other ones, so move to the next one and do the same thing. And once we've done three of them, just pushing under, prying if you need to. And now you can see we've kind of opened this thing up.

You can just remove it with your finger. You can do that last fourth one if it still feels stuck, but it's pretty easy. You'll get a hang of it once you just put the corner and you'll feel the thing kind of pop out. Now we can remove the battery. So looking where this metal component is, we want to come in on the top left and again, using the corner of your flathead screwdriver, just get under the battery and just very gently lift it out.

Now we have a 1620 battery. Take a brand new one, make sure the positive side with the battery information with the text on it so I can get that to focus. This will go face down into the device and we click it in. And now we just need to put everything back together.

So we are just lining this thing up. If I can figure out how it goes. There we go. Just line it up, click it all back together.

Take your key part here and just set the battery and the button component back on top. It will click in there nicely and sit flush. And then you're just going to put the back of the device on and click it into place. And that's pretty much it. You are all set.

Have a new battery in there and you are good to go. In this quick tutorial, I will show you how you can change the battery in your Subaru BRZ key Fob at home. This particular device was used between 2014 and 2018, and it takes one of these CR 2032 batteries to run. The first step is to flip it over to the back, hold down the silver button and remove the internal key. As you can see, my key is missing, but it's the same process. Just hold that down, set your key to the side.

And now looking in this area, we have a kind of a keyhole right there. You can see that. And then above it there are these other little openings in the plastic. We're going to go right above the keyhole in a little area parallel to that line. And we're just going to put the head of a flathead screwdriver into that area and twist and twisting.

We will start to pull off the back part of this device. And then you can just twist down through that opening there until you can remove this easily. And you just set that to the side. And now I'm just going to remove this circuit board battery component. And when handling it, I'm going to hold it from the sides.

You don't want to touch the circuit board there, so just hold from the sides. And again, using the flathead screwdriver, I'm going to come in from the top and just looking. I'm going to put the corner of my flathead screwdriver between the plastic and the battery right in there. And just kind of gently pushing and wiggling and you will slide in and the battery will pop out. It doesn't take too much force, take your time, don't want to break anything.

And then we have our CR 2032 battery. So go ahead, get rid of the old one, take a new one and make sure this positive side with the text on it goes face up and slide it down first and then click on the top. If you try to do it the other way, we won't want to go in. So just do it like that. Now we can look to this back piece of plastic and you can see there's a little picture of a battery there.

We are going to put the battery so that it sits right on top and it will fit in there. And now we can kind of just put these two halves back together, click them together, and then you can check that your light is coming on, your buttons are functioning, and you're all set. That's all it takes. I hope this video helped you out. And if it did, feel free to let us know in the comments section, or you can just let me know by giving this video a like.
