GIF Visual Guide

In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to change the internal battery in your Toyota 4Runner key Fob. This particular device was used on 4Runner since 2020, all the way up to present day. And it takes just one CR 2016 battery, to run. If you’d like to pick one of these batteries up online, I will leave a link down in the description to get one on Amazon for the lowest price. And that will be the exact battery that you need for this specific device.

Now let’s go ahead and get started. The only other thing you will need is a regular flathead screwdriver. So the first step here is to locate this little indentation on the top where the keyring attaches. Here. We’re going to insert our flathead screwdriver into there to open this up.

But you want to do so with the back part facing up. I’ll show you why in a second. So with the back part facing up, insert your flathead screwdriver into that area and just twist it. Just twist it like that and then carefully lift off the back. Okay.

From here, we can lift out this box that sits inside. And these little buttons will tend to fall out, especially if you open it the other way. That’s why we’re doing it this way. So it just can be kind of annoying to put back in. So you just want to be careful with this, set that to the side.

Don’t let those fall out. And now we can turn our attention to this little component here. And what we want to do is look to the top. And in between this black plastic and this clear plastic, there is a little area for us to put our flathead screwdriver in. And we will again just be turning or twisting our flathead until this thing opens up a little bit.

And we can just pull it apart with our fingers can set this part to the side for now. And now with this little metal component facing down, you want to come in on the top. And in between, there’s a little wall of rubber here. You want to get in between that and the battery and just put the corner of your flathead screwdriver kind of under the battery and just press and just lift it up. And you want to put your thumb there because this thing will come flying out, end up on the floor.

Show you that one more time. Just going to click it back in and kind of fix that part there. So we want to come in on the top between the battery and that rubber, and just stick the flathead screwdriver under there. Okay. Now get rid of your old battery and take a brand new CR 2016 battery.

And again, I will put a link in the description. If you don’t want to go looking around for one, you can just click that link to get one on Amazon and make sure that when you’re putting your new battery in you make sure the positive side goes face up just like this and you will slide that in click it into place you might want to just fix that little part there and now we can just reassemble the whole device so click the black part on top lift this up carefully and you’re just going to set this right on top of the batteries sorry just on top of those buttons and just keep it all nice and secure as you click back into place and that is it you should be good to go I hope that helped you out and if it did you can let me know down in the comments section or just by giving this video a like and if you ever need help changing another battery in any of your key Fob for any maker model you can check out the rest of our tutorials here on YouTube or visit us at fobbattery.com.

GIF Visual Guide

In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota 4Runner key Fob and change the battery yourself at home. It’s very simple to do. All you will need is a regular flathead screwdriver and one of these CR 1632 batteries. Now, you might have a key Fob that looks quite similar to this, but it is a light Gray plastic here. The whole body is more of a light Gray, whereas this one is black.

Don’t worry, it’s actually the same device, same battery. And the procedure to open it up is exactly the same. So just follow along. You just have a different color no matter what key you have. The first step here is just to hold this button down on the side and pull out the internal key.

From here you can see that is the keyhole. And then right across from it, there’s a little perpendicular indentation. See? Keyhole indentation. We’re going to insert the flathead screwdriver in there and just twist the screwdriver to open up this device.

So now we can pull this apart. Take this and carefully set it to the side with this rubber component facing up. You don’t want to flip this over or perhaps your buttons will come falling out. So just carefully set that to the side. And from here, I’m just going to take the corner of my flathead screwdriver and gently lift up this circuit board.

Now, we can set this to the side and under the circuit board we are going to find the battery. Now, with your circuit board oriented just like this, we’re going to come in up on the top, right? You can see there’s this little opening, this little corner. We’re going to put our flathead screwdriver in there and just kind of hold the battery down so it doesn’t fly out and you want to get under it and pry it out just like that. And once it pops out, you can go ahead and get rid of your old battery.

Take a brand new one. And again, this is a CR 1632 battery. And if you don’t know where to get that, check out the link in the description to get one on Amazon. Make sure you’re putting your battery in positive side up. So you should see this text and battery information facing up and you’re just going to click it in.

Make sure it is secure. Take this back piece of plastic here and you see where there’s a little circle. The battery is just going to sit right on top of that. So set that down, pick up this front piece of plastic and we’re just going to click it all back together. Okay?

And finally put your key back in there. You can push down the buttons and this little light will come on indicating that your battery has some juice in it. And you followed all the instructions correctly. So good job on that one. And I really hope this video did help you out and if it did you can let me know just by giving this video a like or telling me down in the comment section and if you ever need help changing another battery in any of your key Fob or any maker model check out the rest of our videos here on YouTube or visit us at fobbattery.com.

In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota 4Runner key Fob and change the battery yourself at home. This particular device was used on 4Runner between 2010 and 2020 and all you will need to open it up is a regular their old flathead screwdriver and one of these CR 2016 batteries. If you’d like to get one of these batteries online, I will leave a link down in the description to pick one up on Amazon for just a couple of bucks. And once you have everything you need, you can just follow along. So let’s get started.

Right up here on this keyring you’ll see on the side there’s a little indentation along the seam of the plastic. Take your flathead screwdriver, insert it into that area and twist the screwdriver until you hear a cracking sound. And this little back piece of plastic comes off from here. We want to insert our flathead screwdriver right into this little opening on the top and we’re just going to be prying out this inner component here. And now we can set this to the side and if you look, we can see there’s a little arrow.

You can see there’s a little arrow right there. We are going to come over to this area with our flathead screwdriver and right between this black plastic and this clear plastic, it’s a little indentation. So insert your screwdriver in there. And again, we’re just twisting the screwdriver until this opens up and then just continue pulling it apart with your fingers. Set this down just for a moment.

And now you can see our CR 2016 battery. There are a couple of little openings here, little spaces for you to put a tool into. I’m going to put this same flathead screwdriver right here, right on the left side. I’m going to insert the corner of my screwdriver and just get under the battery, just lifting it up and you’ll see it’ll come out pretty easily. Go ahead, get rid of your old battery and get a brand new CR 2016 battery.

If you don’t know where to pick one of those up again, there will be a link in the description. Make sure this positive side with the text there is going face up. And so you just want to click it in face up, push it into place, make sure it’s sitting nice and secure. And then we could just begin to reassemble this device. So click this back together.

Just set this back in there, press it down, make sure it’s in there nicely, and finally click the plastic back on there. Go ahead and test it by pressing one of the buttons. And if you see that red light coming on, that means your battery is fully charged and you followed everything correctly. And basically you are good to go. So I hope that video helped you out and if it did, feel free to let me know down in the comments section or just by giving this video a like and if you ever need help changing another battery in any of your key Fob for any maker model, check out the rest of our tutorials here on YouTube or visit us at fobbattery.com.

In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota 4Runner key Fob and change the internal battery at home. This process is incredibly easy. All you will need is a regular flathead screwdriver and one of these CR 2025 batteries. Now, if you’d like to get one of these batteries online, I will leave a link down the description to get this exact battery that you need for this device on Amazon at the lowest price available. So go ahead and check that out and then let’s just hop right into it.

The first thing you want to do is look to the top of the device. You can see there is a little slot or indentation in the plastic going to take. Our flathead screwdriver could also use a coin. And what we want to do is insert into that area and then just twist the screwdriver and this thing will crack apart. And you can just go ahead and set that back piece of plastic to the side.

I’m going to flip this thing over. So the bottom is pointing up because I want to go with my tool right in that little area here. I’m going to use the corner of this flathead screwdriver to just gently pry the battery out so you can kind of pull down on the battery to get it moving in the right direction. And then what I’d like to do is just get under the battery, push it down, and kind of just pry it out. And as you saw there, it just popped right out.

Not too difficult. I will show you that one more time. So now it’s nice and clicked into place. I’m actually going to hold it down, kind of pulling it down so it can get past this little lip on the top there. I’m just going to pull it down, use the corner of my flathead screwdriver just to get under it and lift it up.

And of course, if you have a smaller screwdriver, if you have like a little precision screwdriver or something smaller than what I have, it’s just going to be easier. But just even with whatever you have lying around, you can get this battery out pretty easily. So go ahead and take a brand new battery. Again, this is a CR 2025. And if you don’t know where to get one of those, check the link in the description.

And when you’re putting your battery back in there, make sure this positive side that has that text goes face up and you’re just going to slide it down under these little pieces of plastic here first and then kind of click in the top and it will sit in there very nicely. And you can just finish up by clicking the back plastic back on. And then you can test that the device is working by just clicking. And if that light comes on, that means your battery is in the right position. It’s got some juice in it and you are all set so I hope that helped you out if it did you can let me know down in the comments or just by giving this video a like and if you ever need help changing another battery on any of your key Fob for any maker model check out the rest of our videos here on YouTube or visit us at fobbattery.com.
