You don’t need the service of a dealership to change this battery. Just get your tools, follow these step-by-step guides and you will get yourself a new working Ram key fob soon.

What you will need:

  • 1x CR2450 battery
  • A flathead screwdriver
  • A precision or Philips head screwdriver

Step 1

Press the button on the side of the key fob and pull out the physical key

Step 2

The next thing is to remove the back part of the key fob (a thin layer of plastic). To do that, first, locate the two seams on the sides of the device.

Now insert your flathead screwdriver into one of these holes, giggle it, and pry upward. You will hear a pop on that side. Do this for the second hole and the key fob will open up.

Step 3

Now that you have access to the old battery, it’s time to remove and replace it with a new one. To remove the battery, simply pull it down with your thumb.

Step 4

Insert your new CR2450 battery into the right place and click it down. Ensure the positive side faces up.

Step 5

This is the last step. Line up the key fob back cover back and snap it into place. You might need to add a little bit of pressure here. Return the physical key and you’re done!
