In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota RAV4 key Fob to change the internal battery at home. Now, if you're looking at this key Fob, you may have something that looks very similar to this, but some of them have kind of a glossy finish in here. Some of them have, I believe, three buttons. Mine has four. You may have the three button version.

Don't worry, it is the same device, same button. Sorry, same battery, same process to open it up. So just go ahead and follow along. We'll get a new battery in there for you. You will need one of these CR 2032 batteries.

If you don't know where to get that or you'd like to get one online, check the link down in the description. You can go over there to get one on Amazon for just a couple of Bucks. And that will be the exact battery that you need for this device. The first step is just to look on the bottom. You can see this little switch here going to hold that down and pull out the internal battery.

Set that to the side. Here we have a keyhole. That's where the key just came from. And right across from it, perpendicular to it is a little indentation in the plastic, a little slot that we're going to use a regular flathead screwdriver to open this thing up. So again, keyhole.

And then this is the area that I'm talking about. So insert your flathead screwdriver into there. It's probably best that you have the back side facing up, not the button side. And we're just inserting in there and twisting our screwdriver can now pull this off, set that down, pull this off. These buttons can come out if this little rubber component falls out.

So just kind of keep it oriented this way, set it down carefully. And we're just going to be working on this little component here. Up at the top, right above the battery, you can see there's a little hole. That's what we want to go in with. Either the flathead screwdriver, you can kind of go in with the corner and pry it out.

Better to use a smaller screwdriver or just a tool that will really fit into that hole. I'm going to be using this little precision screwdriver here, because if you have a tool that's the right size, it just pops out super easily. If you're in a pinch, you can definitely use this, which I have done. You just kind of get under and it takes a bit more force and you might kind of scratch things up a little bit. So I really wouldn't recommend that.

If you don't have something like this, you can use a paper clip, fold that out and insert it in and pry this out. Also, perhaps a Bobby pin, a toothpick or something like that.

If you don't have anything that's working for you, I would recommend this product this is just a couple of precision screwdrivers like the one I have right here and you get different sizes there so if you don't have something that fits in here and if you're struggling just check the link down in the description there will be a link to get that on Amazon for just a couple of Bucks. So once we have the right tool you're just putting it down in there and just prying comes out very easily. Now get rid of your old battery, take a new CR 2032 battery and put it in positive side up so this side facing up you just click it in there and you should see that plus sign facing up now on the back here we're just going to put it all back together on the back you can see that little circle with the battery that information there just set the battery facing down on top of that and from here we can just pick up the other part of the key Fob and just kind of click those two back together squeeze it all back together and put your key back in there and you are good to go. I hope that was a big help to you and if it was feel free to let me know down in the comment section or just go ahead and give this video a like so it can help someone else and if you ever need help changing another battery in any of your key Fob we have tutorials here on YouTube for pretty much every make or model so check those out and you can also visit us directly at our website fobbattery.com.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota RAV4 key Fob to change the internal battery at home. This is a very easy process, don't worry. But you will need one of these CR 1620 batteries. And if you don't know were to get one of those or you'd like to get one online. I will leave a link down in the description so you can pick one up on Amazon for just a couple of Bucks.

The first step here is to look on the back of the device right where this little keyring is here. And you can see there is an indentation kind of a little slot in the plastic right along the seam there. We're going to take a regular flathead screwdriver, insert it into that area and twist the screwdriver. You'll hear it crack off or you're not damaging it. That is how it's supposed to be removed.

Just set that to the side. Now, here we're going to remove this little piece of plastic as the battery type and some information. It tells you how to actually remove this right there. It looks like you might want to unscrew this, but that's not how it works. We're just going to use the same flathead screwdriver, insert it, push it down, and kind of applying a constant pressure, pry back.

That will remove this little disk there. It doesn't matter which way you go from. We're just pushing down till it catches on the little edge inside there. And you're just going to pry it back and go ahead and remove that. Now, we need a special tool to remove this little battery.

There not a special tool, but we need something thin. I'm going to be using a precision screwdriver. What we actually want to do is come in on the bottom here where there's this little hole, and we're just going to pry the battery out so that it falls out pretty easily if you do not have a precision screwdriver. First of all, I will leave a link down in the description to get this little pack that I have here. You get a couple of different sizes, including this one, which is the perfect size to remove this.

I'll leave a link to get that on Amazon. It is just a couple of Bucks. Alternatively, I will recommend a paper clip, like a thicker paper clip that you bend out that you can insert down in here. You could try a couple of things, Bobby pin, maybe even a needle or something like that. But it does need to be a bit strong.

I think some of those might bend. So give it a try. And if that doesn't work, that link will be down in the description for you. But we're just going in that little hole in the bottom, pushing down to the bottom under the battery, just prying back. So again, this is a CR 1620 battery.

It does need to be 1620 for it to fit in here and just go ahead and push it back in. Nothing fancy there we're just pushing it down to the bottom and then this also simply click it down into place and we can now just reattach the back of the device. Squeeze that down, make sure that it's all closed up and you are finished and ready to go. I hope that video was helpful for you and if it was feel free to let me know down in the comment section and remember if you ever need help changing another battery in any of your key Fob we have tutorials here on YouTube for pretty much every make or model so you can always check those out or visit us directly at fobbattery.com.

Amazon Basics 4 Pack CR2032 3 Volt Lithium Coin Cell Battery
  • IN THE BOX: 4-pack of CR2032 3 volt lithium coin cell batteries; replacement for BR2032, DL2032, and ECR2032
  • DEVICE COMPATIBLE: Ideal for watches, calculators, key fobs, Apple TV remotes, and other small electronics
  • DESIGNED TO LAST: 8-year leak-free shelf life

GIF Visual Guide

In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota RAV4 key Fob to change the internal battery at home. Now if you're looking at this device and you maybe have the three button version, it's going to look just like this. But it is going to have three instead of four buttons. Don't worry, this is the same device. The process to open it up is exactly the same and it uses the same battery.

So just follow along no matter which device you have. And you will need one of these CR 2032 batteries. If you don't know where to get that or you would like to get one online, I will leave a link down in the description so you can get one on Amazon for just a couple of Bucks. And then once you have everything, you can just follow along with me. The first step here is to look on the side of the device.

You can see there's a little button that says push. Just push on the top of it, hold that down and pull out the internal key.

Now we will need just a regular flathead screwdriver. You can see there is the keyhole. And then perpendicular to that, there is a little slot in the plastic keyhole slot in the plastic. Insert your flathead screwdriver into that little slot and you're just going to twist the tool until this back part comes off. Set that to the side and lift out this little circuit board here that houses the battery.

And we're just going to use the same flathead screwdriver. And you can see the battery right there. We're going to insert it between the battery and this black plastic behind it. Hold this component on the sides. Try not to touch this part too much as it has some delicate parts in there.

And we're just going to apply a little constant pressure while wiggling. And you will slip under the battery and it will just kind of pop out for you. So let me show you that once again pushing it under the battery.

And there you go. Don't go jamming it in. Just kind of push until you feel it slide in there. It's not too difficult. Once again, this is a CR 2032.

Check the link in the description if you are interested in picking one of those up on Amazon and make sure you're putting the battery in the new battery positive side up. So you want to see this plus sign when you click the battery back in there. You want to see that plus sign facing up. Now on the back of the device, you can see this little circle there. The battery will sit on top of that circle just like this

So position that set it down. Circuit board facing up. And of course we can just click these two halves back together, give it a squeeze, check around there, make sure it's all secure. And of course put your key back in there. That's all it takes guys.

I hope that was helpful for you and if it was feel free to let me know down in the comments or just give this video a like so that it can find other people and help them out as well and if you ever need help changing another battery in any of your key fobs for any make or model you can check out the rest of our tutorials here on YouTube or visit us directly at fobbattery.com.

Toyota RAV4 Key Fob Battery Replacement (2013 - 2018)

This is the battery you need for the Toyota RAV4 “Fixed” key fob:

Amazon Basics 2 Pack CR2016 3 Volt Lithium Coin Cell Battery
  • IN THE BOX: 2-pack of CR2016 lithium coin cells; replacement batteries for small electronic devices
  • DEVICE COMPATIBLE: Powers devices such as watches, calculators, sporting goods, games, medical devices, and more
  • DESIGNED TO LAST: Long-lasting, reliable battery life; performs in extreme temperatures

GIF Visual Guide

In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota RAV4 key Fob to change the internal battery at home. If you're looking at this device and you're saying, hey, mine looks kind of like that, but it only has three buttons, do not worry, this isn't is we have the same device. The only difference is the number of buttons, but how you open it up is exactly the same and the battery that it takes is exactly the same. So just follow along. There's really no difference.

You will need one of these CR 2016 batteries if you don't know where to get that or you would like to get one of those online anyway, I will leave a link down in the description for you to get one on Amazon for just a couple of Bucks. And the only other thing you will need is a regular flathead screwdriver. So look up here where the keyring attaches. You can see there's a little slot in the plastic there. You want to use your flathead to go in there and twist to open it up.

But make sure you're holding this so that the back is facing up buttons, not facing up. So Toyota symbol facing up buttons down. That's important. I'll show you why in a second and just insert the flathead in there and give it a twist. You'll feel this kind of click off and you can remove it.

And now carefully remove this little component in there. That's where the battery is. So you can see why we held it this way, because we have the buttons in there and they will fall right out on you. And if they all fall out can kind of be annoying to put back in there. So just set that down, be careful with it and turn your attention over here, right up on the top of this little component here we have a space between this black plastic and this wall of clear plastic.

You can use the same flathead screwdriver or you can also use a coin to just twist in there. Just insert it in a twist and this will crack open and you can just pull it apart with your fingers and we can keep working with the very same tool. We're just going to get under the battery, put the corner of your tool under the battery up on the top here. Just kind of slide it behind to pop it out. I'll show you that one more time.

So just getting behind and then pushing or prying the battery up. This is a CR 2016 battery. Make sure that is what you are using and make sure the positive side goes face up when you put your new battery in there. So click that in. If your little rubber part gets stuck under the battery, just nudge it up with your flathead screwdriver and you want to see that positive side.

That plus sign facing up now we can just put it all back together so click the two little pieces here back together. Carefully pick up your key careful with those buttons and you can just set this right in there and click the two halves back together. That's all it takes. I hope that helped you out and if it did feel free to let me know down in the comments section or just give this video a like so I can find other people and help them too and if you ever need help changing another battery in any of your key Fob we have tutorials here on YouTube for pretty much every make or model and you can also visit us directly at fobbattery.com.

This is a really easy process. You will only need a regular flathead screwdriver and one of these CR 2016 batteries If you'd like to get one of these batteries online, I will leave a link down in the description to get one of them on Amazon for just a couple of Bucks. And that link will take you to get the exact battery that you need for this device.

The first step is to look up at where the keyring attaches. You can see there's a little indentation in the plastic. We're going to use a flathead screwdriver to twist and open this device up, but I want you to make sure that the backside is facing up. When you do it, the buttons facing down, the Toyota symbol facing up. So go ahead and insert into that area and twist.

And now this part will crack off. Keep holding it this way and just lift out this little component inside.

And right under this little piece of rubber are the buttons that can fall out if you're not careful. And it's kind of annoying to put back in. So just set that down carefully now and we can come work over here. Now, right up on the top, you can even see there's a little arrow. It says use coin to open.

We're going to use the same flathead screwdriver, but you can use a coin if you prefer. And we just want to insert it in here between the black plastic and this little wall of clear plastic. So insert it in there and twist until you hear it click apart and just open it up with your fingers. And what we want is this battery here. So as you can see on the left side of this battery, there's a little space there.

That little opening is what we're going to use to pull the battery out. So you can just use the same flathead screwdriver and go in with the corner of the screwdriver, get under the battery and pry it out. Kind of lifting and prying the battery out once more. This is a CR 2016 battery. If you don't know where to get one of those, check the link in the description that will take you over to Amazon to get one at a very low price.

And when you're putting your new 2016 battery in there, make sure the positive side is going face up. So click it in there. Plus side facing up. And now we can just put this all back together. So click these two, click these two back together, pick up your key, set that in there and just click the back into place.

That's all it takes, guys. I hope that was helpful for you. And if it was, feel free to let me know down in the comment section or just give this video a like so we can find more people and help them too. And if you ever need to change another battery in any of your key Fob we have tutorials here on YouTube for pretty much every make and model and you can also check us out directly at fobbattery.com.

GIF Visual Guide

In this quick tutorial, I will show you how to open up your Toyota RAV4 key Fob to change the internal battery at home. This is a very easy process, but you will need one of these CR 1632 batteries if you'd like to get one of those online. I will be put a link down in the description to get one on Amazon for just a couple of Bucks. The first step is to look to the side of the device and you can see there's a little button that says push. Hold that down and pull out the internal key.

Right here we can see the keyhole and right next to it there is a little slot in the plastic perpendicular to the keyhole. So there we go. Keyhole. And this is where I am talking about. You're going to use a regular flathead screwdriver to go into that area and you're just going to twist the screwdriver that will open this thing right up.

Set this to the side for now. Set that down and we will be just gently pulling out this circuit board that also houses the battery up here in the corner. You can see that little opening there. It's like a little empty space. We're going to use the same flathead screwdriver and go in with the corner of the screwdriver and just pry this thing out.

So hold your battery down a little bit and just get in there and we'll pop out. Just takes a little pressure in the right place. Just get under the battery and kind of pry it. There we go. Once more, this is a CR 1632 battery.

Make sure that is what you're getting. If you don't know where to find that, the link will be in the description for you. And make sure when you're putting your new battery in that this positive side is going to face up. Just click that into place. Now we can put it all back together.

So on the back piece of plastic here, you can see on the inside there is a little circle with some text in there. The battery is going to sit directly on top of that circle. So set that in there until it sits nicely and then we can just click the two halves back together.

It's really easy and just go ahead and put your key back in there. So I hope that was simple enough and I hope that helped you out. So go ahead and check that out and then we can just get right into this.

So the first step is to look up on the top of the device. There is a little slot in the plastic right along the seam there. We're going to take a regular flathead screwdriver, insert it into that area, and just go ahead and twist the screwdriver that will crack open this device. You can now set the back piece of plastic to the side and look over here at the battery right up on the top right side. If you have the device upside down here going to be the top right side and you will see that little hole kind of an opening in the plastic.

You can actually use the corner of a regular sized flathead screwdriver to kind of work the battery out just like you saw. So you're kind of sticking it down and pushing the battery down and then lifting it up. And that is actually pretty easy. You could also use something like a little precision screwdriver or even a paper clip and just get in there and it's actually much easier. But you shouldn't have any trouble with just a regular tool that you have lying around the house.

So remove your CR 2025 battery and go get a new one. Make sure you're putting it back in positive side up. So just slide that in, slide that down, and then click on the top and you want to see that plus side facing up. Now we can just click the two halves of the device back together and make sure the light comes on indicating that your device is working properly and you're good to go. I hope that was helpful for you and if it was, feel free to let me know down in the comments section or just by giving this video a like so other people can find it and it can help them too.
