What you will need:
• 1x CR2025 battery
• Flat-head screwdriver

Changing the CR2025 battery in your Mazda 6 Sedan smart key is a simple process. First, push the switch on the back of the device to remove the internal key. Locate the grooves on the left and right walls inside the area the key came from. Insert the head of your flat-head screwdriver into each groove and twist. This will loosen the two halves of the smart key.

Now, the seams on the sides of the key fob should be coming apart. Insert your screwdriver into these seams, twist, and work your way down each side until the device is fully open. Inside of the smart key, remove the plastic disc battery protector with your fingers. From here, the CR2025 battery can simply be removed with your fingers.

Place your new battery in its place, face up. Put the plastic protector back on top of the battery. Finally, press the two halves of the case together until they snap into place. That’s all there is to it. Your smart key is now good to go. Nice work!

In this video, I'm going to show you how to replace the battery for a key Fob for a Mazda 6 Sedan, this is not going to be the same fob you have for a Mazda 6 Hatchback.

Keep that in mind. But this one was used from 2009 to 2018 and it carries a CR 2025 battery. To get in here, we want to turn it over, find the lever, push it down to remove the valet key. Now that we've accessed this area, you can see there's a little groove and indentation right in there, one on each side. And if we take a regular flathead screwdriver, we can just wiggle it in into that little indentation and give a twist to create this opening down the side that just loosened it up and do the same on the other side.

Now, we've made it easier to just remove this safely without damaging the key. And we're just going to go down to one of these openings we've made twisting, moving down and twisting until it comes right off nice and clean. Now we can remove this piece of plastic protecting the CR 2025 battery. Go ahead, grab a new one, slide it in just like that, really easy. Make sure this little piece of rubber is actually in its place.

Put it on top again and just pop the back. Right back in its place. Little bit of pressure click, and we're done. Put your valet key back in and you're good to go for your Mazda 6 Sedan.

To change the battery, we first need to separate the two halves of our key fob. Start by looking at the left side of the device where the key is housed. Just inside the key’s compartment, on the top, is a seam between the two halves of plastic. Use your screwdriver to push upwards on the outer piece of plastic. Push until you have created enough separation to fit a flat-head screwdriver into the seam on the bottom of the device (where the two holes for the keyring are). Twist the screwdriver until the whole key fob opens.

Inside, there is a square indentation that contains our CR1620 battery. Take your precision screwdriver (3.0mm/PH0 or smaller) or another small tool and place it into the top-right corner of the compartment (there is a small arrow pointing to this corner). Insert your tool into this corner and pry the battery out with a rocking motion. The battery will pop right out.

Place your new battery face down on top of the indentation and press down until it clicks into place. Finally, put the two pieces of the key fob back together. That’s all it takes. You just changed the battery in your Mazda 6 Sedan key fob. Not so bad, was it?

Hello, everybody. Today I'm going to show you how to change the battery on this key Fob that was used on the Mazda 6 Sedan between 2006 and 2008. And on the inside, we're going to find a CR 1620 battery. So go ahead and follow along and you should have your new battery in no time. First step, flip out the key because we need to use some kind of a tool, maybe a flathead screwdriver to push up this layer of plastic here, this piece.

So I'm going to hold on to the part on the left of this line because that's not going to be moving. We're going to push this up from that little rim. You can see once we have a little bit of space on the bottom part from just pushing, you can insert your flatted screwdriver and give a twist. Finish it with your fingers. And we have these two parts totally separated.

If this happens to you and this little part comes out, that is for the front buttons, just to make sure you squeeze it back into place before you put that back on. Okay, here is our CR 1620 battery. Going to use a precision screwdriver to remove this because you can't really get out with your fingers. You can find these kinds of things online for a couple of Bucks. You can give a link to get something like that.

If you just go in this bottom right corner, there's actually an arrow here indicating where you should go. And you put your tool in, push down to the bottom and pull it back, sort of rocking. You can release the battery that way once again. Bottom right corner, tool in and just work it out like that. This is the 1620 battery.

We're going to get a new one to replace it. Make sure this side with the brand and battery information goes down into this Fob. This is the positive side. You can see that is the positive side down. Slide it up, slide it up into the part with the metal here.

A little bit tricky, and then push down on the bottom. Let me show you. If you slide up and secure the top first and then you push the bottom part in, it should be securely in its place. And finish up by putting the other part back on the faces of the key. And you're good to go.

That's all you need to do to put a new CR 1620 battery in your Mazda 6 Sedan. Key Fob. Thanks for watching.

Changing the battery in this Mazda 6 Sedan rounded key fob is easy. Let’s start by inserting your flat-head screwdriver, coin, or butter knife into the small slot on the bottom of the key fob (where the keyring attaches). Twist the tool until rounded key fob pops open.

Now we have access to the CR2025 battery. Simply press—with light pressure—on the top edge of the battery (the side with the red dot above) with your tool. If you push in the right spot, close to the edge of the battery, it will pop out easily. To insert your new battery, slide it up towards the red dot and then push the bottom into place. It will click into place nicely. Finally, just snap the two pieces of your key fob back together.

Wasn’t that easy? You’re all done with your DIY battery replacement and you can go drive your Mazda 6 Sedan.

Hello everybody. Today I will show you how to change the battery on this key Fob. This Fob was used on the Mazda 6 Sedan between 2003 and 2005. Inside we will find the CR 2025 battery. Just follow along and you'll be able to replace this in no time.

This one's really easy to open. If you have a flathead screwdriver or even a quarter or some kind of object that you can put into this indentation at the top of the key chain goes. You can see this little area that is between the two halves of plastic that you can put your tool into and twist to open the Fob and get access to the battery. Now here's our 2025 battery and it's kind of in there. Hard to get out with your fingers.

So I'd suggest taking your same tool. And if you see the top where the key chain hole is, and there's this green on the top, push on the bottom, kind of push it in and wiggle it like that. It will just pop right out. Let me show you that. Again, it's very difficult to do with your fingers.

But if you have anything like that can fit into the bottom here, it's just with a little bit of pressure, you will release the battery. Now go get your new battery. Make sure the side with the brand and the battery info is facing up towards you. And when you're putting it back in, slide the bottom down first to get the battery behind these two little pieces of plastic and just push it in from the top like that. Once again, release by pushing into the bottom with a thin object and you put it back by sliding it down and just pushing it in.

And now we just reattach the other half. Super easy. Put a new CR 2025 in your Mazda 6 Sedan Key Fob. Thanks for watching.
